These guys in Nedlands, WA (western suburbs of Perth) are selling 100% Jersey milk in glass bottles, Full cream, Lite and Skimmed, plus a whole range of dairy products using 100% Jersey milk from the south west of WA.
I am fortunate to be working with them on their branding, labelling and marketing.
Ron Rutherford and his family are genuine, hard-working, community-spirited and produce deliciously natural products. Spread the word! Royal Show judges watch out!

Haha! Thanks so much for dropping by; so great to hear about real milk from real people. I’ll add their details to the alt.milk directory in a moment. What a dream gig! Pretty cows!

Hi guys! I just wanted to suggest an additional detail for your Alt.Milk article, re Barambah Organics in QLD. Although their milk is incredibly delicious, the main reason I buy it is because they operate a no-kill dairy farm – that is, their bobby cows are not considered ‘waste products’ of the industry, they get to peacefully live out their lives on adjoining acreage. Pretty progressive! I’m sure this info would be of keen interest to lots of your readers.

Thanks for the tip Elisha! Yes, I’ll pop that link in there!

    Hey Sharon,
My friend Lou Fitzroy is doing a lot of work to promote Western Australian Farmers, here is her website:
She also has a book “From paddock to plate” which showcases recipes fom the farmers themselves featuring local produce.
    Cheers, Liann

    1. Sharon says:

      Hi Liann,
      How are you? Finished uni?!
I recognise her book from her ‘lil Twitter icon. Fantastic stuff!

      1. Liann says:

Hey Sharon, lol not finished with uni yet… still plugging along. I’ve just moved over to Perth from Melbourne and looking for work at the moment. How about you, are you done with the MPH?

        1. Sharon says:

Wow awesome! Why? Why not!? I’ll tweet you a place you must eat (for me)!

I’m so so close to finished. Next semester I have two units left. OMG! What am I going to spend it on?!

When our app is finished I’ll get in contact with Lou… It’ll be great to have her and the W.A. farmers involved!

  4. Coles ordered Zarella Holdings of Virginia South Australia, to modify Potatoes, which reduce to water when microwaved and will not crisp any more if baked. What are we going to do about our Food Chain?

    1. Sharon says:

Are you sure they were asked for GMO potatoes, there may be seeds with those properties that have been developed with traditional breeding practices. Why develop potatoes for those properties I DON’T KNOW!

Nevertheless, come along to a Fair Food Week event to discuss the food chain. If there’s nothing local, set an event up!

I am not sure if you have heard of these guys but they sell great farm raised and butchered meats, lots of info on their site. I love their paddock to plate philosophy and they sell at the farm gate as well as local markets.

    1. Sharon says:

      Hi Sharron,

No I haven’t, thank you. Yes they sound wonderful, love the Chianina bull too.

  6. These guys have imported rare poultry breeds into Australia for the last three years. They have breeds which offer alternates to broilers – La Bresse, Ixworth and Light Sussex as well as 40 other rare breeds. Their email address is . They are in NSW.

    1. Sharon says:

      Hi Bridget,
I’ve been meaning to get in touch with Avgen – so glad to hear they managed to import the birds after the Torrens drama. I’ll put it on my list for next year. Many thanks!
